Clinic 2 – Steven Georges, Saxophone Mechanics

Steven Georges, Owner of Moment’s Notice Repair in Indianapolis, IN -will explain Saxophone Mechanics in repair- using machining and purpose-built tooling to maximize longevity. Steven will demonstrate how to achieve tight key work, including how to make post bushings, reamers, and demonstrate specialized key work tooling to achieve fast and accurate results.

Clinic 3 – Rulon Brown, Live Clean or Die Tryin'

Join Key Leaves Founder, Rulon Brown, for a deep dive into his research about saxophone care and cleaning. Learn powerful ways to prevent pad rot, stop sticky keys before they start, and protect against bent keys and body damage during travel. Plus, there will be trivia and prizes! Experiencing thumb or hand pain while you play? This session will also include time for personalized feedback and hands-on time with devices to help you relax and relieve tension while you play. Cleaner technique and a cleaner sax!

Clinic 4 – Theo Wanne, The history of the Saxophone shown through mouthpiece design, from Adolph Sax’s first mouthpiece to present!

Theo Wanne, founder of Theo Wanne Mouthpieces, is considered the world’s foremost expert on the design and manufacturing of saxophone mouthpieces. In his clinic we will learn about the great saxophone players through history, the mouthpieces they chose, and how those mouthpiece designs shaped their historically significant sound!  Also learn about Theo Wanne mouthpiece models designed to ‘stand on the shoulders’ of these significant mouthpiece designs of the past. All questions are welcome and encouraged!

In this nutrient rich clinic, Will Peak of Peak Performance Woodwinds in Kansas City, MO focuses on the creative methods and techniques he employs in his shop to repair and set up saxophones. These include Customized Key Adjustments, Sound and Ergonomic Enhancement, Non-Traditional Materials and Innovative Techniques and Tools to fix common and complex problems.

Jody Espina is the founder, president, owner and designer of JodyJazz Saxophone and Clarinet Mouthpieces. Jody will give you every technique he has on how to achieve a great Jazz Saxophone Sound. He’ll give you one great idea on improvisation. Then he’ll tell you everything you need to know to intelligently evaluate, test and select a new mouthpiece!

Clinic 7 – Jeff Peterson, Saxophone Essentials

 

Jeff Peterson manages Yamaha Corporation of America’s Atelier-Los Angeles, part of a global network of Research and Development and Artist Support Facilities. In his role, he works with a worldwide team to develop cutting-edge wind instruments to satisfy the world’s most discriminating artists. 

In his clinic Jeff will cover principles that set the stage for a solid saxophone set-up, discussing the areas of the saxophone that often do not get the attention they deserve. These topics will lead us to tools and techniques to bring out the best in any saxophone.
