Our Intermediate saxophone overhaul is for an advanced student or semi-professional player looking for an overhaul that is more involved and uses more
advanced materials and techniques than our student overhaul. Intermediate overhauls should last longer and play more even than student overhauls due to
the increased key fitting, leveling, and minor tuning and toning work.
All overhauls are performed by a very qualified craftsman. MusicMedic.com’s goal is to push the limits and raise the standards of Intermediate overhauls.
Many of our customers who have bought student overhauls in the past have since returned as more refined players, often with higher quality instruments
that require more attention to detail and precise craftsmanship. Because of our world renown reputation for the finishing work in our Professional
Overhauls, we have decided to pass some of this along to our Intermediate customers at a very reasonable price.
With our Intermediate Services your saxophone will return in better than new playing condition!

An Intermediate Overhaul Includes
Disassembly:
The saxophone is carefully disassembled. The old pads, corks and felts are removed. Once the saxophone is disassembled, the body and keys are
cleaned of any dirt, oil or debris. Springs are checked and replaced as necessary.
Removal of dents:
Intermediate overhauls include minor dent removal, some dent removal may require an added fee. At MusicMedic.com we are capable of removing
any dents that you may have in your saxophone. Dent work that is considered major will add to the cost of an overhaul and will be quoted before any work is done.
Key Work:
All keys are straightened and posts are realigned as necessary. When necessary, tone holes are leveled and resurfaced. The body of the instrument is
checked for straightness. Neck and key corks are replaced using premium materials.
Neck Fitting:
The neck is fitted and checked for a proper seal.
Intonation Adjustments:
Because there are several common tendencies with most types of saxophones (middle D sharp, palm keys sharp) basic intonation problems can
be fixed in our shop without the presence of the player. The techs in the MusicMedic.com shop will play test your instrument and bring into line the major intonation
tendencies. There are currently three professional saxophonist working in the MusicMedic.com shop. This intonation work will be done by our head Tech Curt Altarac
and checked by other players in the shop.
Rebuild & Finishing:
With the saxophone in proper order, premium Precision Domed Metal Resonator pads as well as full synthetic corks and felt are installed and
adjusted. The saxophone is then extensively play tested and basic intonation tendencies are adjusted. Final adjustments are then made to ensure the integrity of
the overhaul. Every Intermediate overhauls is play tested by our Head technician, Curt Altarac.
The Overhaul process takes 1-2 weeks from the day that it arrives at our shop. If you need more information on Intermediate Saxophone overhauls, scheduling, shipping
